Ok. First and foremost, I hate you. LOL! Just kidding. I hate spiders, so this image just freaks me out to no end but I figured if you were brave enough to take the photo, I can suck it up and give you a critique.

Now, I'm not a great photographer by any means be I try and I have to say, I love this composition. There is a great, dynamic feel to the image; between the diagonals from his legs to the main diagonal from the webbing, there is just great movement in the photo. I also love the limited color in the image because it makes the viewer focus on the eyes and the talons of the spider because of its bright orange/red color. The image is even more engaging because the eyes of the spider seem to be looking out at the viewer. I also enjoy how the webbing seems to frame the spider.

The one thing about the image I would have liked to have seen was more light and shadow play. This is a minor issue for me though. I think you made up for the lack of depth with making the focus so strong on the head and thorax and having the rest of the details blur/fade out but I think if there would have been a stronger light, the spider would feel less two dimensional to me. Again, this is a minor issue as I think having the focus so tight on the head and thorax, coupled with the dark shadow of the hole/tunnel, helps to better explain what's happening visually.

Overall, great photo. I know I'm certainly freaked out by it. LOL! Thank you for sharing your work.
