Description

This photo shows a young lotus leaf. When pushing the edges are rolled inward and give this form of heart. I have a small pond in my garden that my boyfriend built and the lotus seems like a lot ... they are too many !!! So, I think that this leaf out of the water would not be so serious. For the photo, I just put it on other leaves of the pond.

Cette photo représente une jeune feuille de lotus. Lorsqu'elles poussent, leurs bords sont enroulés vers l'intérieur de la feuille et créent alors cette forme de cœur. J'ai un petit étang dans mon jardin que mon homme a construit lui-même autrefois et il semblerait que le lotus s'y plaise à merveille car ils sont devenus beaucoup trop nombreux. Je me suis donc permise de sortir cette feuille-ci de l'eau et je l'ai ensuite tout simplement déposée sur les autres encore présentes dans l'étang.

The focus is good and I like the bokeh, but the DOF is too shallow for my liking. It would have been nice if the top of the heart was in focus too.
The colours are stunning (and for the record, in most people's opinions there's nothing wrong with playing around with the saturation of an image - it's not "cheating" at all). I love the pattern the veins of the leaf make; it gives a really nice effect.
The composition is good, and I much prefer this one to the square crop. The curved edge of the blurred-out leaf at the bottom leads the eye towards the subject very effectively, and there's just the right amount of empty space around the heart.
It's a shame about the dust speck (or whatever it is) in the bottom right corner - it's a bit distracting. You might be able to crop it out without spoiling the composition.
